Apple increases iPhone screen repair prices | KnowTechie

However, if you are an iPhone user, it may be sensible to take extra special care of your device going forward, as it has recently become more expensive to repair the screens on a number of different iPhone models. The price hike, which was quietly introduced by Apple, was first spotted by users on Reddit.

As a result of the increase, iPhone owners who do not currently have AppleCare+ coverage can expect to pay $20 more in the United States and £20 more in the United Kingdom in the event that they need a screen repair.

New Screen Repair Prices

The Apple Store was offline during the recent launch event for Apple’s latest batch of iPhone products, including the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. However, before the store went back online, it appears the company made the decision to increase screen repair prices for a whole range of iPhone models.

Prior to the launch event, the cost of replacing an iPhone 7 screen at an Apple Store was $129 in the United States, and £136.44 in the United Kingdom. However, that has since increased by $20 or £20, depending on your region, with the new prices being $149 and £156.44, respectively. The exact same pricing now applies to the iPhone 6S.

The $20 or £20 price hike also affects other devices. Repairs for the iPhone 6S Plus and the iPhone 7 Plus were already higher, costing $149 prior to the recent launch event. After the Apple Store went back online, that price had also increased to $169. The changes first came to public attention on the news aggregation site, Reddit.
