Facebook, Google ad metrics show shifts in pricing power: column | USA Today

Facebook’s latest financial results showed that its online advertising business still has one big advantage over that of rival Google: rising prices.

That pricing power is one reason Facebook’s sales are rising much faster and its profit margins are fatter than its larger competitor.

In the March quarter, Facebook’s average price per ad rose 5% year-over-year, while its number of ad impressions soared 50%, chief financial officer David Wehner said on a conference call late Wednesday.
