Grab’s S$4 penalty: How about riders whose bookings are cancelled by drivers? | TODAYonline

I read the news item regarding the new cancellation policy of Grab where there is a S$4 penalty for passengers cancelling the ride five minutes after booking. This penalty fee goes to the driver.

I just have one question for Grab: What happens if the driver cancels the ride?

It has happened to me a few times. Sometimes, Grab automatically finds a new driver. But other times, it just shows a cancellation message and users are left high and dry and have to rebook the ride. With surge pricing, the fare for the rebooked ride might be higher than what was cancelled.

Ii is only fair that the same S$4 penalty be applied in such a situation, with money going into the user’s account.
