When NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune launched our weekly crawfish index, readers were outraged by the prices.

But we’ve been here before. We know what will happen.

Prices will fall.

This week, the average price for boiled crawfish is $5.97, a 47-cent drop from last week.

Fingers crossed, but let’s hope we see nothing but falling prices until the shells start getting hard and we’ve eaten our fill.
