Local hospitals post prices online | Daily Independent

ASHLAND King’s Daughters Medical Center and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital have joined hospitals across the nation in posting their standard prices online.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has required all hospitals to do so, starting on Jan. 1. The change mandates that all information online should in machine-readable format that can be easily processed by computers. The rates are like list prices and don’t reflect what insurers and government programs pay, which could possibly cause confusion to customers.

In a statement, OLBH said it believes in price transparency along with empowering customers to know more about their cost of care.
