Man books trip on ride-hailing apps; finds Grab’s fee triple that of Ryde | Yahoo! News

Now that the dust has settled after Grab bought over Uber’s Southeast Asia operations — and both companies got fined more than S$13 million by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore when the watchdog concluded this month that their merger was anti-competitive — it seems trip fees are just skyrocketing to the moon as and when surge prices kick in.

Case in point: This netizen, who revealed the rather massive difference in the cost of a ride from the ICA building on Kallang Road to Hougang Ave 9. Comparing the fares between ride-hailing platforms Grab and Ryde, it seems the former quoted him a price that was more than triple its competitor. Both routes varied a little, but the starting points and destinations remained the same.

Essentially, it would’ve cost him $41 on JustGrab, compared to a mere $13 on RydeX. Pretty big difference there.
