GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A lawsuit filed by the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office alleges two companies from out-of-state price gouged victims of Hurricane Florence.

The lawsuits claim Georgia Tree Company and Secure Restoration overcharged customers during the Governor’s State of Emergency issued during Florence.

Georgia Tree Company, based out of Alpharetta, Georgia, is accused of gouging a Florence victim from Sneads Ferry in Onslow Co.

The suit alleges the homeowner was charged 19,598 dollars to have four trees removed from the property. That comes to 513 dollars per man-hour of tree work.
