Not enough evidence to prosecute majority Carr Fire price gouging complaints | KRCR

During the Carr Fire, the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office announced they would be cracking down on businesses price gouging and prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law. So far, none of the complaints have had sufficient enough evidence to prosecute.

Around 120 complaints were filed during the Carr Fire for price gouging. Many of them, duplicate complaints about the same business.

Lucky Jesrani with the DA’s Office said a vast majority of those complaints were investigated and have been closed.

“So far, we haven’t found sufficient evidence within the statute to file any cases,” said Jesrani.
