Officials to discuss public opinion on ‘value pricing’ [Video] | KOIN

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon Transportation Commission will hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss the public opinion research on “value pricing” — or tolling — and congestion.

The research that’s set to be released focuses on tolling on I-5 and I-205 from where the two freeways merge north of Wilsonville to the Washington border.

However, tolling will also be considered on I-84, US 26 and Highway 217 in Washington County. The additional roadways are part of a broader effort to discourage people from driving during peak times. The goal is to flatten out traffic flows and prevent big influxes of commuters.

Money brought in by tolling would go toward projects aimed at alleviating areas of congestion.
