One Gas Station Lowers Prices in Hopes Competitors Follow Suit | My Panhandle

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Gas prices in the Panhandle continue to be some of the highest in the state since Hurricane Michael. While state officials said they will look into price gouging claims, some said it’s taking too long to see relief.

According to AAA, as of Monday, January 14, the average gas price in Bay County was $2.44. The Florida state average was $2.12.

“They are already struggling in other ways, you know, cheap gas would be a little help for them,” said Trent Perryman of Gainesville who is in town to help fix roofs following the storm.

He said gas prices in Gainesville were around $2.

The Beeline off 23rd street is advertising their gas price at $2.29. It’s is one of the lowest in the area Monday, even beating Sam’s Club.

“I’m not sure what kind of reaction we’ll have. I know I’m going to have a lot of people not liking me,” said Beeline owner Dhruv Patel.

Patel said he’s trying something new. He’s lowering his prices in hopes others will follow suit.
