Lufthansa Plans To Shift Its Miles & More Frequent Flier Program Awards To Dynamic Pricing | Forbes

The Lufthansa Group will move its Miles & More loyalty program that offers free flights on the group’s airlines, which include Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings among others, to a dynamic pricing model, according to executives speaking during a press briefing today in Miami.

Lufthansa Group chairman Carsten Sophr says the company expects to grow share in Europe with 220 aircraft on order. The move, when it takes place, will follow Star Alliance partner United Airlines, which recently said it will stop publishing awards charts later this year. Delta Air Lines has been using dynamic pricing for awards for several years. No timetable for any announcements was given, however, when asked about the possibility, Frank Naeve, vice president sales, the Americas said, “Certainly that’s the direction we are going.”
